2018 Lansing Art Gallery Collegiate Show
My most recent fascination has been on the lakes that surround us here in Michigan.
Specifically, the moods created along their coasts. From countless summer nights spent tied up in hammocks with waves below me and the ones laying out on sand watching the stars until drifting to sleep, to the sunsets and evenings where the clouds glow across the western sky, or the aurora dance to the north- where I witnessed nature create art that was infinite times more astounding than anything I will ever make or capture. Most recently, as I now live in the Upper Peninsula, I've discovered the bitter landscape that is Lake Superior in winter. An entirely new environment, so unfamiliar and chilling, yet so beautiful in it's own way. These images are only a portion of these experiences, and do not do justice to what these lakes have shown me.
The above are my submissions, with the top image being accepted into the gallery, but this body of work cannot easily be defined by three images. Im very thankful to have had the opportunities and encounters that gave this set of images immense value to myself. These locations are ones I now treasure, and I see myself coming back to time and time again.
Always with a camera, and always ready for whatever the Lakes have in store for me.
